Just reading what the scale says, Mad..
Double checked and it's 480 right now. So, 99 lbs (assuming slightly more gas this time).
That rear wheel/belt drive is heavy. Add the fenders, rear frame rail, mufflers, passenger pegs, seat, , stock batter, extra chrome, etc. Adds up.
I'd love to take your money though, haha.
so the bike weighs 480? What’s factory? 490ish? I currently have a bike that weighs 455 and I had a bike that was 405. Harley wheels and front end need to be ditched to drop serious weight. The 405 pound bike weighed 390 with different exhaust than I was running.
Your 2002 is a rigid mount model, no way it weighs 579 wet. My 1991 FSM says my bike weighs 472 from the factory. No way a couple gallons of gas and three quarts of oil weigh 107 pounds. I've probably dropped close to 20 pounds off my bike (lithium battery, no smog can, lighter shorty mufflers, no stock heavy air filter, no passenger pegs, etc.) so I'm probably close to 450.
So, if your bike is scaling out at 480, it's heavier than my 1991.

A 480lb solid mount evo 91-03 is not an impressive weight drop. No matter how you cut it, you must ditch the boat anchor stock wheels and trees/tubes to get any significant weight loss, period.
As I stated, this bike weighs 455lbs
EBR RACING rear wheel, 2008 gsxr front end and you can tell the bike is trim af. That’s with a full 3.2 gallons of fuel.
This bike here is 405lbs, same rear wheel as above, 11lbs trac dynamic front end, rc drag front wheel, 32oz fuel tank ect. It’s still shy of a 100lbs fat loss, it’s a 1992
im not trying to bust your *****, but your information is incorrect and not accurate at all. A 100lb cut does not come without some of the things i mentioned, period.
Interesting, my FSM lists the 1200 as 2 pounds lighter than the 883. Yours says 2 pounds heavier. I always figured the 1200 bore size combined with chain (883) versus belt (1200) drive could be the 2 pounds. I'm sure my chain must be heavier than a belt.

I just sold this 2001 1200 for $2800. I was considering buying 91 - 03 Sportys, converting them like this and flipping them. It's a tough market if you're hoping to make a big profit.
damn.... and I live here and didn't know... well hell... missed out.
