Default Did my dealer NOT do Stage 1 correctly?

So I've had my Stage 1 done for about 1k miles. I went with the Vance & Hines Sideshots pipes and a Screamin Eagle A/C. They used a Slow Jet #48. That was the only jet listed on the invoice, so I think the other one remained the same???

Anyway, when I got it done the bike felt like it shifted more like it was 'supposed' to. Had more power, and was a hell of a lot louder. It still does and is... but, I notice that when trying to rock on the throttle sometimes the bike feels a bit bogged down. Doesn't kick in till the speed goes up a bit. And just has that kinda boggy sound.

Once it gets going the throttle sounds and kicks in like it should. But, do you think the bike still needs further tweaking? I think it does. But, if I take it back to HD will they be able to fix it up?

Does it need to be dynoed to see how to tweak it out?

I just want her to be all tuned in perfectly, and I think theres more power in there right now...

Any thoughts????

Thanks dudes.

Read the carb adjustment thread in DIY section, lots of good info on carb tuning. Im having the same problem, just haven't looked into fixing it yet.

Sacto HD has a dyno, I'm sure they can fix it quicker then the trial and error way you would at home.

Sometimes when you modify the exhaust you loose low end torque but gain it up higher in the rev range. My buddy went to a drag pipe on his 96 883 and had it jetted on a dyno. Now he's weak at low RPM where you cruise but has more power when the revs climb. Before that his bike was all low end grunt but ran out of breath on top.

My 06 883 pulls strong everywhere so I'm kind of afraid to start monkeying with the exhaust. But I want something with some rumble without being obxoxious.

I put the SE II's on my 05 883C. Still have the low end torque, plus more of that Harley sound , but not the ear bustin' drag pipes sound. I wish I had or plan to put pipes on that run all the way to the rear of the bike, butt that is down the road.

Sportsters usually come with 42 slow jet, most that put on open pipes go to 45 slow jet an some run to rich so they put in 44. I have 45 an it runs alittle to rich. Will only cost a few dollars to try lower no. slow jet.
