Default H-D or ?? Fork Brace

I didn't realise that such a product existed... and would be beneficial? Maybe some of the members here on our forum can give me some heads-up information regarding these such as is their use recommended, would I notice an improvment in handling etc. with one installed and are there any issues with the aftermarket ones lets say compared to the H-D accessory 'fork brace'.
I noticed there is a vendor selling his brand at a discount if purchased by the end of the month and I am interested in knowing if my hard earned CAD$$ would be well spent before I invest. Tks.

Thanks for the reply Mike, that is the kind of info I am looking for before I go ahead and get something that I may later regret buying where I could have put the $$ towards some other accessory (and I'm going to need a few acc's. to fix my Sporty the way I want it).

Regards

Handling improvement would be most noticeable at high speed - increased stability and less of a disconcerting wobble. If you're not noticing a problem now, you may not have to worry about it (needing a fork brace). I don't see a wobble issue until I'm past 90MPH. and I'm usually not "up there" that often (top speed about 105MPH, for just a little while)...

Well, when I got it in September I rode it back from the dealer in Ottawa and averaged 60-65 mph for the 70 mi. trip and didn't notice anything scary with the handling except for the fact of getting used to the way it rode/handled compared to the V* I traded in on it.

I don't plan to do any high speed touring, just city driving and two lane backroads riding, so from what you said I guess it is something I can do without for now.

Thanks for the info on this.

mikeisglidn-

Is your fork brace a patented 2 piece SuperBrace or a someone else's with more pieces?

If it is a SuperBrace, have you rode the bike without the brace on it?

Either way thanks for a trying a fork brace and have a happy Thanksgiving,

The Superbrace is just a clone of the HD SE fork brace(which in turn may be a clone from another mfg.). Not sure what the Superbrace costs but the SE forkbrace costs about $140 from Zanotti's. Forkbraces are a good safety item to have. Your bike will track better at all speeds with less flex in the legs and give better feedback through the handlebars.

I think for now I'll put the forkbrace on the to do list as there are a few other accessories that are a priority that I want first. Perhaps next year for the FB, I'll judge how the bike handles over the '06 riding season.
