So not sure what I’m facing here rose the bike a few days ago and was running perfectly fine not ticking no loss of power nothing. Adjusted my throttle cable and return since it was sticking during the previous ride but didn’t ride it after. Went to ride the bike today and it had trouble starting and I could hear knocking tried one more time and it fired up and just super loud knocking that sounds like it could be coming from the top not really sure I shut it off quickly after. Oil level is fine I just changed it a couple hundred miles ago with oil from HD and is within the lines, and I made sure it wasn’t over filled when I changed it. . Thoughts ?

 

Pull the covers and check the push rods first

 

The pushrod covers are one piece, the op will have to remove the rocker covers in order to get to the pushrods.

How many miles on the engine?

Did the oil light go out when the engine was started?

Is the engine making a knocking noise, or a tapping noise?

Do you have a Factory Service Manual (Harley Davidson, not an aftermarket manual)?
