2005 Sportster 883C battery fuse blows
OK, so I did something I should not have. Jumped my Sportster off my Truck ( I know, I don't need any more kicks while I'm down). When the battery was dead, I got it going the first time, but the 2nd time it blew a fuse. I am talking about the 15A Battery Fuse (not the 30A Maxi Fuse).
Anyway, every time I changed it and touched the battery, it would flash and pop. So then I looked in the manual. That power goes to the Speedo, Ignition Module, and TSM. I unplugged the TSM, still blows. Unplugged the ignition module, still blows. Unplugged the Speedo, stopped blowing. Plugged the TSM and Ignition module back in but left speedo unplugged, does NOT blow. As soon as the speedo is plugged in, it blows.
So then I checked the Speedo itself. I looked at the resistance/continuity on pins 5 (battery) and 7 (Gnd). Zero ohms. SO it looks like it is shorted inside the speedo.
My question is do y'all think this is a safe bet I blew the speedo and it is shorted out? I know there is a chance I blew more but I am looking to see if anyone has any experience with this issue.
Also, where can I get a replacement??? It looks like Harley does not make the 67403-04 ( number on the unit) speedo any more...... :-(
For that fact, I looked on Ronnies and looked up the part number. Ronnies says the part should be 67037-04A, so I'm not even sure what part number I should be looking for....
