Default Head scratcher!

So I got a VSS code on my diag routine as my Speedo would quit working every once and a while…. No problem right? 🤣 got the new one in two days ago, worked perfect so I was cruising home from church today and honked my horn at the wife in her car. Looked down, Speedo out! So I pull over and run the diag real quick, no codes, start bike, Speedo working. So I can assume the fuse is okay otherwise it would just be out. I haven’t checked it yet but…. It was my Dad’s bike, I just got it a few weeks ago, I notice he put one of them louder HD horns on there. What do you think is going on? It’s just weird that happens when I hit the horn button. Short to ground somewhere?

Check the horn wires, something isn't quite right.

Indeed I will! I appreciate the reply, figured I’d ask first before I start a journey down wires lane. 🤘🇺🇸 Pops put on led signals too, so I got some weird things under the seat.

You need to give a full SP of the bike in order to get good help in return and that includes all modifications, IMO.

You have not provided any information as to the model and year of the bike. With that said, you are on yer own with it.

I guess that would be important. Sorry about that. It’s a 05 xl 1200c

Not sure what SP is. Mods are Street magic load eq for led signals front and rear and HD extra loud horn. Those are the only electrical mods I know about.

Some upgraded horns require a relay, if his new one does and he just hooked it up to the existing wires it could be causing the problem.
