Hi Dale, in no way was I trying to flame/embarras/ridicule you. But it sounds like from this post and previous posts, that your wanting to move up to a RK soon. I was just stating the facts and feel that for you it is too soon. I guess I came across too harsh. If my post insulted you, I apologize.
The dropping of my bikes came in the first year of my return to riding. ( Yeah, I went through a lot of bikes, real quick, before settling on the Harleys). Like you, I put in a lot of practice time, in empty parking
lots. The RK and Sporty was purchased within the last year and I feel very comfortable handling the RK.
My post with the advice/constructive criticism was so that you don't jump in and make the same mistake I did.
If your thoughts of purchasing a RK is focused further down the line, like a year or so, then I guess my advice was kind of presumptuous. For that I apoligize again.
Anyway, ride safe...
The way I read your post, it seems like you've dropped street bikes eight times in the last four years. I'm
not sure you should be judging me based on your rather rocky experience. How much practicing did you do when you started riding again? How much since?

I'll have to disagree with niided. I went from a 1200c to a Street Glide. For me, the Street Glide is much easier to handle in turns, on the freeway...you name it. The only thing that is harder is when the bike is not moving and I have to back it up using my own strength. That's when you realize it weighs 800lbs.

Yeah, went from the 1200C to RKC. RK wins hands down in handling. Never felt as confident on the Sporty as I do on the RK. It may be heavier, but tracks much better. Especially at lower speeds. Trade in that Sporty and get the RK. You will not regret it. Much better bike, plus you can actually tour and be comfy! I have never been happier with a bike.
