yeah thats what I'm wondering. Also the rev limiter was set at 6500, which from what ive read is a little high for stock valve train.

Did you replace the rocker as well?

I didn't, but I had my machine shop look it over and he gave it a green light.

Tomorrow, im gonna give it another warm up. if there is no change I'll pull the valve covers and see if I'm getting oil. I will probably go further and double check the pushrods are in the right spot. I'll post with my findings. Thank you for all the responses so far.

thank you
i pulled the rocker covers this morning and i seem to be getting oil up top pretty well. However i noticed that on the valve in question I had a ton of lash when both valves were closed. The other 3 valves look fine. So I pulled the rocker boxes off and using an old pushrod I made marks on it at the lowest and highest positions during the engine cycles. What I found was that the other 3 pushrod locations were all identical, but the intake on the rear was 3/16" or so lower than the rest in both positions. I think I received one wrong lifter and didn't catch it upon installation.

pushrods are brand new, correct length and in the correct position. What I found though was the difference in measurement between the top of the lifter and the top plane of the rocker box.

I'm thinking either wrong lifter or the lifter is stuck in the collapsed position? I guess the lifter needs to come out for a look.

Stuck fully collapsed. I'm assuming a broken spring. These lifters were talked about highly.
