I do not have a great knowledge of resitors for LEDs. But I thought they were to balance the TSM because it gets confused because the load would be so small

it is possible your new lights depsite being LED are still drawing a lot of power. Adding the resistors I would think would make it worse, more load. But you should be able to google that topic.

Your buddies don`t know what they are talking about.

There is no need for a load equalizer on a headlight circuit.

A load equalizer is only needed on some models for the turn signals, because the LED`s use less current.

The turn signal module is designed to flash the signals when a certain current flow is reached, but with LED`s the current flow is too low.

A load equalizer is used to increase the current in the circuit (fooling the turn signal module), it does this by allowing more current to go to ground, through a resistor.

Probably all models when indicators were fitted upto 2014 will need a load equaliser. The difference will be a relay unit will probably not flash at all and the electronic TSMs will hyper flash.

The body control module BCM can auto learn when LEDs are fitted for bulbs.
