I had one of these dedicated USB power ports on my '11 Custom to charge my phone or have a Garmin GPS on my bars. Ran it from the battery and under the tank to the bars. I switched it to my RK since it gets most of the saddle time and mostly for the long rides now.

That looks nicer than the ~$10 ones I was looking at on Amazon. Probably better to pay a little more up front to avoid the hassle of a new installation every year or two…

Depending on how the electronics work in a USB port converting 12 volts to 5 even when not in use it might be drawing a small amount of current. That is why personally I am not in favour of going direct to the battery or using the tender connector; just my choice.

Yes it is connector 31 and pins 3 and 4.

What I like about it is it comes with a waterproof cap for your USB cable. Only thing to do is get a waterproof cover for your phone or GPS. Works great when you get caught in the rain, which I have on both the King and Sporty.

I'd also appreciate recommendations for reliable phone mounts.
A phone mount/compass combo would be ideal, but I'm fine with separate products.

Thanks, Brett S.

Yeah. Some of the ones I've looked at have on/off toggle switches for that reason.
