Default LA Choppers Clutch Cable Question

I am in the process of swapping to LA Choppers 13” Pullback Kage Fighter T-Bars. I ordered the recommended throttle, idle, and clutch cables as well as plug and play wire extensions. Everything has gone on fine so far, but when I opened the clutch cable, there is a long spring between the primary side clutch cable end and the bottom of the cable adjuster. For the life of me, I can not figure out why it is there. Does anyone have some insight for me?

It will stop the cable from going into too tight a turn I suspect. Stop it kinking.

It could be a heat shield for the outer cable, the lower cable is the nearest to the hot motor so it makes sense to protect it from the heat.

I thought about that yesterday, as the stock cables don't have it so is it really necessary for either reason? The cable should take a nice sweep from where it clips to the frame not touching the engine and straight to the point where it enters the casing.

It will actually become a nuisance in time trapping dirt, IMO.
