I think Harley started offering the tubeless chrome aluminum profile laced wheels in 2012 on the Softail and touring models (RK Classic) as an option. Pretty sure they had the rim strip and rim seal.

Generally..if its a laced wheel it needs a tube, If you go tubeless on laced wheel the air will escape where the spokes tie into the rim. Also when replacing tire or tube on a laced wheel, don't forget the large rubber strap that goes on the inside of the rim, it protects the tube from contacting where the spoke adjusters attach to the rim.

Some have poured gallons of silicone sealant into the spoke holes to seal them.

Not motorcycles but for bicycles there is actual kits available for the job.

I changed both my road and mountain bike over to tubeless and they also need a special rim as well as the rim doesn't have the hooks like a normal rim does. It is an expensive change but the feel is worth every penny as you can ride lower pressures with tubeless as you don't have to worry about pinch flats.

I didn't want tubes on my sportster so I ditched the spokes for mags. I also hated cleaning spoked wheels as well.

i prefer tubeless mags as well in BLACK powdercoat as i hate cleaning but this is a budget build
that im tyring to do as cheaply as possible so mags currently arent in the cards UNLESS i can steal a set
on the cheap

They did, a friend of mine has those wheels on her Softail.

The rim strip is thick and as wide as the wheel which is what allows you to skip the tube.
