Default handlebar grip questions

hi all, Im new to HD. the bike has no left grip, and takes a 1" afaik (bar itself measures 1" OD)

the throttle side has a plastic on it,

is that something that comes off or do I need a bigger grip that slips over that?

thanks

If you buy new grips from Harley they include tubes and no glue is required. They are ridiculously expensive (of course) but worth it. I went the "Nostalgic" model and love the feel of them, best grips I've had after many bikes and years.
Various suppliers sell copies of these but I don't know if the quality is any good or not... Be very careful and do some reading before doing the throttle side, it is VERY easy to break the brake light switch DAMHIK.

Just to get something on there (right now no grips at all) I ordered these.

Doesnt look like I need to take anything apart to slip these on? Glue?

I run those grips all the time. They are great but wear out because they are pretty tacky. No glue. Use a little WD40 on the inside of the grip to get them on.

Get yourself a manual if you intend to do any more work on your bike. It explains what needs doing with the brake lever in order to not break the brake switch.

Some come with a throttle tube so you have to remove the switch housing to install the new tube. It's been a long time since I messed with the stock switches. I don't run the stock switches anymore and don't have a front brake light switch. You can find a pdf copy of the manual online for free.

I use the same vans grips in brown and bought some leather grip wraps. You can kind of see them in the pic. I love that setup and haven't had to buy grips in a long time.
