As a side note moving the sportster around is like pushing a bike after moving a gold wing or my road glide. Nice small bike that is fun to ride.

I also have a GL1800. Very easy to put on center stand. Actually I have done it before getting off, but mostly do it from the side - won some beer bets that it could not be done before. Just pres down on stand lever and pull back. No lifting - you use your body weight to lift it. If the stand is correctly designed it is no big deal. To be truthful I also have a 79 Honda CB750 that is pure hell to put on center stand. The gold wing is easier believe it or not and it is pushing 850 lbs.
