The sudden cut out when you run out of gas isalso a consequence of running with a single carb. Bikes I've owned (& run out of gas on) in the past with twin or multiple carbs spit & fart about for a good few seconds before dying completely & give you more chance to switch onto reserve, I suppose the gas remaining in the float bowls or fuel supply to the different carbs must be exhausted at slightly different rates.[/align]

I thought it would be obvious, by mentioning that I was 10 miles from empty, that I WAS using the tripmeter. I always do. Oh and the gas station is at the top of said hill!

dang, thats great mileage. Mine must run a bit rich, I gotta get gas at 100 miles on my 1200R. A few miles past 100 and I'm sure to be on reserve. Darn little peanut tank looks great but doesn't hold a darn!
