Sportster as a cruiser
#12
Hi there from sunny South Africa😎
I ride a 2002 1200 Sportster - In fact, it’s the only Harley I have ever ridden. I just love cruising with it and can ride it for hours at around 100 - 110 kmh. I find it a comfortable speed and a really comfortable ride. However, it is often said over here that the Sporty is not ideal as a cruiser and that the bigger bikes - Softails upwards- are better suited for that. Why would that be? Bigger engine? Bigger bike? Bigger gas tank and longer range?
What do other Sporty owners think of their bikes’ cruiser abilities?
Take care👍

I have a friend with an old Sporty he purchased new years ago. We put the third belt and new sprocket cog pulleys on it. Got way over 100,000 miles on it.
He like me is old but last year he purchased a Indian. I still see him riding the Sporty more then the new one.
