Sportster cam question
I知 having a tough time deciding on which set of cams to pick
this will be to complement my 1200 cc upgrade along with port work on the heads
im down to these grinds in no particular order
fueling 505/515
fueling 580
se2 585
hammer 560
hammer 570
im looking to make 80-90 wheel hp is all
i think any set of these would help doing that but I知 just stuck deciding
i know the 580 and 585 will need springs. With the 560/570 I知 going to assume thy will need springs too

From Real World experience, go with the Hammer 570's you will not be disappointed. Put a set of 570's in my Wife's 04 1200c a month ago. Got stock heads, stock valve train, Dynatek ignition, V&H slip-on's with DK Custom baffles. No loss of low end torque and one kick-*** midrange and top end, PLUS a damn wicked idle. After the 1st Road Test, I decided to replace the CV-40 with a Mikuni HSR 42. My Wife says "THANKS for the Inter Continental Ballistic Harley.

Watch this video, it talks about how pistons, cams, and head work get matched:
Also watch this one, it goes into more depth on why and how compression ratio and cam timing get matched to each other:
Bottom line here is that it's a mistake to treat cams as an independent decision from your head work and piston selection. They have to be a matched set and there are several ways they get matched.

gremlinsteve, I can not tell you if the Hammer 570's will work with 883 cylinder head valve train. Too many unknown variables. 883 to 1200 conversion, dished pistons or flat top? Heads port work done. Was it just port work or combustion chamber reworked? Just email Hammer Performance and ask them.

SHHHH!!!
Seriously though, I respect this site's rules and I want to stay on the right side of them. I try really hard to offer advice without promoting my business or even telling anyone what it is for that matter. Doing otherwise is totally unfair to the businesses that sponsor the site.
In this case, I just offered up that he needed to look at the pistons, cams, and head work as a matched set, and suggested he get his advice from his head porter (which as far as I know is not us). The videos are just to inform him on why and how those three things get matched to each other. I actually didn't realize it was going to embed the videos, apparently the site software does that automatically when it sees a youtube link. I'm a bit uncomfortable with the fact that it embedded them. A little too close to the line for me.
