I can't see spending more money for the latest 'whiz bang' sparkplugs when it's not needed.
I've used Champion and standard HD plugs in my bikes, under all kinds of conditions, for years and years and years, without any kind of problem.....
The Champion RA8HC works just as well as the HD 6R12, which isn't surprising as the last I heard Champion was still making the plugs for Harley.
I change plugs around the 8,000 to 10,000 mark, or whenever I happen to think about it. For all you that believe in going strictly by Harley recommendedschedules, I'm pretty sure they say to change out the plugs every 10,000 (or as needed).
What's the price of 2 Champion RA8HC plugs, maybe $4.50? Guess if you need to spend 'big bucks' you could get a couple of HD6R12 plugs for $9.00. Less than the price of a meal or a few beers.
But if it makes you feel better to spend more money for the latest'super plugs' be my guest. I'd rather spend my money on something that actually makes a difference.

For your information, the NGK plugs that I bought were the D7EA DIRECT REPLACEMENT plugs for the factory HD plugs. I don't know about you or what you do for a living but I work hard for my money and REFUSE to pay the INSANE markup for a rebadged Champion.
As far as Champion plugs go. I wouldn't use em in a Spud gun let alone anything thatI would like to be reliable.
Since I got rid of the HD Champions, alot of the sputtering and popping has magically disappeared. Keep in mind I was changing plugs in approx 5000 mile intervals.
I have used NGK plugsfor MANY years in my snowmobiles without an issue. I actually triedchampion plugs in my sleds once and found that they were the worst plugs for that application unless you likeclean plugs every hundred miles or so.
The NGKdirect replacement plugs I bought were about $3 a piece.A far cry from the $9-$15that Harley wants for a rebadged champion which would normaly cost maybe $0.98 a peice without the HD name on it.
You may wanna do your research next time before you have to put your foot in your mouth again OFG.

The best spark plug for any gasoline engine is the one that came stock. The eingineers have spent many hours deciding what plug works best with a certain engine configuration.Going to platinum or iridium will not give performance gains. If your plugs foul using the stock plugs it is your fault because the air/fuel ratio is not correct or you have a internal engine problem yet to be discovered.Maybe you leave the enrichener on too long.
