Default Bring on the heat!!

I have ridden in the last 3 days over 100 and loved it!! My rear pipe had some heat rash, but I polished it off today. In traffic the bike has ran awesome!

Yeah, looking at the oil temp on mine it's run at about 175 degrees, even with the heat. Definately running like a champ. However, I still prefer the temp to not be in the triple digits.

Well Dallastx, while some of us have wondered about you for some time, at least we now knowyou are a masochist. Do you resemblethat commercial for "If you are on drugs" this is what your brain look like, featuring 2 eggs frying in a pan?

Humm ... the temps here in mid NC ranged from 90-103 during the last 2 to 3 weeks.. I road the bike to and from work every day. In a full face helmet, rag, Tourmaster webbed armored jacket, First gear vented over pants (levis underneath), typical boots and fully armored gloves.

I will admit though ... the fan under my desk was quite refreshing.

The bike, well the bike doesnt always like those temps. Especially, after a 65-75mph / 30 mile run. Doesnt always like to go into and come out of first sometimes after that run ....

What kind of tranny/primary fluid are you using?

Around here summer temperatures of 100+ are common, in fact we've been right at 105 for the past couple of weeks.

Most of the guy I know running Sportsters (including Harley certified mechanics) run the Mobil 75W-90 gear oil in the combination tranny/primary, especially in these hot riding conditions.

One of them, a dealership mechanic, has been using it in his Sportster since day one. Has well over 60,000 miles on his bike now, and the tranny and clutch pack are working perfectly.

Synthetic is a mixed bag. The way I see it, if your ride requires it use it. I didn't pay out the azz on my service contract to spend extra on synthetic. It's bad enough we gotta run on premium unleaded gas.

Amen to that brother!!The only thing premium aboutthe gas is theanal flogging the oil company is giving you for buying it. I'm paying around$2.85 / gallon right now. They should at least take us out todinner first.

i'm right there with you Dallas. been riding every day since the rain stopped. ran 535 miles Sunday in the Hill Country at 104 degrees. No big deal if you keep moving. By now most of us have the ole biker tan going. I broke down and bought some Under Armor, everyone else had a wet butt all day. Love the stuff. Well, stay safe and ride your butt off.
