Default buckhorn brake line

hi all,

i am going to mount some 8 1/2" rise buckhorn handlebars on my 97 1200s. will i need to change the upper brake line? if so, where can a guy look for a longer line on the net? i think the clutch and throttle cables will be ok - its just the brake line that i question. thanks in advance.

also, i send sincere thoughts of appreciation to all veterans out there. i am one myself and i took a bit of time out today to give thanks.

I had buckhorns on mine when I bought it. When I changed the gas tank, I had to change bars and risers because the risers hit the dash. I changed to Dyna Wide-Glide bars with 1 1/2 inch risers.

I'd suggest you consider Dyna Wide-Glide bars instead of 'girly' buckhorns!

You can buy the chrome banjo fittings and fasteners, get some black or stainless braided brake lines and build your own set..not hard to do. Most HD stores have the stuff.

Throttle cables won't work. I put 2" rise above stock bars on my 883 and the throttle cables just BARELY worked

That's your opinion, I'd rather have "girly" buckhorns than "candy ***" tassles! ;~) I know Harley riders calls them "Conchos", but them is tassles!

Just put the stock 2004 bars on my 2002 1200c only thing might have to add is a longer clamp for the brake line. What a difference, brings pull back about 2" with about 3" rise no more upper shoulder stiffness. Hands are still pretty much in comfortable horizontal position with nice bend at elbows.
