Slip On Pipes Question
Hey everyone, new here.
Just bought my first Harley.
2022 Iron 883.
I have a question about some aftermarket slip on pipes I purchased. I did a search on the forum to see if it's already been answered but didn't have any luck.
I've read other sources online where people disagree about this, but the slip on pipes i purchased have baffles welded in them. I was always under the belief that replacing stock pipes with slip ons do not require a tune and will not cause any issues with the engine however I have read some posts that disagree with that assessment.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Much appreciated.

First, you have a great looking bike. A vance and hines fuel pack 3 will always be a great addition for just about anything you want to do and can return stock set up if you have to go back to your dealer. Now, my experience. I read that if you only change to slip ons and air induction up grade, you can get by without one. The way you do it is change to slip ons and run your bike 15 to 20 minutes for the computer to adjust. then you make the air cleaner change and do the same thing. BUT you can't do both at the same time. I read about this in American Iron and it worked for me. The plugs didn't get hot and I had no popping back when I rolled of throttle.

Mounting a set of slipons does not require a tuner, although the bike will run better if you do. If you go with a higher flow air cleaner you will have to use a tuner and reflash the ECM.
I reflashed my '17 when it was completely stock with the V&H FP3 tuner's stock MAP, bike ran much better. These bikes are really running too lean from the factory so they can meet EPA standards.
Just keep in mind if you decide to reflash the ECM with a tuner other than HD's you more than likely will void the power train part of your 2 year warranty. From what I've read once it's done even if you were to flash it back to the factory MAP the dealer will know it.

Check with fuelmoto regarding 2022 bikes as some of the HDs now have a different ECM and OBD port and so require a different setup for tuners that were used on previous years of bikes else what firehawk6 said.
