HELP!!! Electric Cuts Out - Anyone Else?
I was tooling along at 45-mph when all of a sudden the security alarm siren went off for about 5 seconds and the electric died on my 2005 XL1200R. Luckily I was able to pull right over to the shoulder. After an hour and a half and 5 times cycling the ignition switch on-off 5 times, waiting 10 minutes and trying, it started again and got me home smooth as silk.
Two nights later I was cruising at 25-mph and the electric just died. Again I was lucky andcoasted right into a vacant parking space on a VERY crowded and busy seaside resort street. After 2 hours and cycling the ignition switch again several times with waits in between, it still wouldn't start. No lights, no idiot lights, and no speedo numbers would come up - just like 2 nights before. This time I had to call for a tow to get me and the bike home.
Anybody elas ever have this happen to them? If so, what did you find and how did you get it resolved? I'm afraid to ride anywhere for fear of not getting back. This really stinks!
Thanks in adavnce for any help...
