I shall continue to reuse mine without any sealant until such time that it eventually leaks and then I'll spring for a new one . Other things to worry about .
You can reuse the gaskets indefinitely if you put a cake pan underneath your bike while it's parked. Kind of like the Harley dealers did during the 70's. Some bikes only leak when they are not running. That will save you at least 30 dollars over the life of your 30K motorcycle.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I didn't know this question would be as divisive as the ole "what's the best brand of oil" question haha. Seems like a to each their own approach here. I should have clarified in earlier comments, I'm not trying to re-use cause I'm cheap. A $30 gasket is cheap insurance to guarantee no leaking, but it's wasteful to me to toss a gasket that might have life left in it. I have a spare new gasket in my garage that I'll use if the one I'm re-using starts to leak.
I have also used 'The Right Stuff', its EXPENSIVE but it works good...
It is excellant, maybe too good. I've only used it on my truck, the rear diff cover. Luckily the super thick off-road cover took the beating needed to break it free; lump hammer & chisel. I would never want to beat on my Sporty that hard.

Remember "Indian Head" gasket shellac"? It was black and tarry and worked well in the "cork" gasket days. I have sealed up many a thermostat housing on my old cars with that. That stuff would stick to just about anything and you needed a power-driven chisel to get an old gasket off. But it did seal well! II see that they still sell the stuff for about five bucks a bottle. I would only use it on a road trip as a last resort.
