Default Made the switch

Well, I've had my '02 1200Cfor about a month now, and figured it was time to change the engine and tranny oil (don't know when the last owner did). I went and made the switch to synthetic running Mobil 1 15w-50. I learned a few things along the way as I completed the job that I will change the next time, particularly with regard to the oil filter removal. I made a little bit of a mess on my driveway as I only had a rag underneath the filter and not a drain pan (that was catching the oil from the drain tube). The tranny oil looked brand new when I drained it. The engine oil was getting dark. So it was probably a good thing that I changed it. All in all I feel pretty satisfied that I did a good job and showed some TLC to my ride!

Next time, get a 1 liter plastic soda bottle, lay in on its side and cut off the upper half starting from the bottom, half way up to the neck of the bottle. You can then slide the bottle up snug under the filter before romoving it. It will catch any oil spill.
