Because of this requirement that pistons, cams, and head work be matched to each other, building a motor incrementally over time is an expensive way to go about it, because you end up buying some parts twice. Nobody makes a kit that allows you to get around this fundamental issue, because it's just physically impossible to do so. Be very skeptical of anyone who claims otherwise. It's up to you to be informed and make informed decisions. Watch Youtube video flgdYTCfXuU, it's all explained.[/QUOTE]

thank you very much , this is the first time I really get so much explanation / read about the conversion from 883 to 1200 , thanks again !!

S&S has kits to 1200 with the 482 cams.. works real well with the 883 heads.. There's 4 parts to this video.. shouldn't be any issues with your 96 bike.

I've already seen all 4 and it is very well explained, but what "hammer performance" told me was when I'm tired of the 1200 with 883 heads I have to walk all the way back and that I will always leave PK on the shelf l and 2x the work

This is very true, and this is why you have to decide exactly how much power you want and how far you want to go with your initial build.. The same goes with, when is the Sportster enough? And you decide to go up to a Dyna or a street glide or something.. It never ends so you just got to figure out where you're going to be content and where you want to spend your money and where you want to have your fun.. Just giving options... Cause trust me "once bitten" it doesn't end...

Does anyone have a link to the 833 to 1200 wiseco that offers 10.5-1? I thought most kits were 9.5 & 10-1

You're right. I just checked their site and the highest compression they offer at present is 10:1.

To install pop up Pistons I believe you'll need to replace the cylinder heads with 1200 heads.. 883 heads will not work..

is also true , never enough ... but I think I will follow my first plan , S&S 1200 cylinders / pistons , save a bit , camshafts and then I will reach somewhere around 70 hp anyway which is not bad , are enough engines that no have 70hp...not even a 1340 EVO :-)

No 70 was never enough, Thats why I have a Hammer build thats 110 hp and I love it. If you are going to be a bear might as well be grisly.
