If you're going to machine it yourself using a CNC machining center, may I suggest using MastercamArt to generate your engraving toolpath. It allows you to import clip art and generate 3-D machining planes if you're dealing with a domed surface. I use it a lot in my line of work as a tool and die maker. If you've got a pic or a rough ideaof what you're looking for and have access to theright machinery, I'll gladly generate your post and Mastercam file for you. If you don't have access to the machinery, get a hold of me and we'll talk. I could possibly be able to machine it for you.

Any '04 and up883 or 1200 derby cover will fit as the case is the same for both engines however, yours is not a twin cam, that refers to an 88" or 96" v-twin as found in all the other bikes other than the sportster family. Good luck and post some pictures once you engrave them, never know, may be able to sell some.

P.S. Awesome signature evilscotsman!!!

i agree rbrunyan. twin cams refer to the big slow twins. but make sure to post pics, cause anything custom that you made, not bought, is cool as crap to me.

later,

Thanks all for your advice! ...evilscotsman, I'm using Type3 software to generate the toolpaths on a Datron high speed machining center. it has a z-probe to map out the curves or domed surface, i usually cut metal wih it but i've done some engraving.
thanks again for the advice and i'll post a pic if i can make something that looks halfway decent!
