I got mine for just over 11k OTD. I have been told since that many folks have had some luck telling the dealer to stick the titling and shipping charges, cost of doing business and all that. I should have tried a little harder. I did get the cost of my Rider's Edge course taken off, and got some free gear from the Motorclothes department, but that is it. This was my first bike and I am not sure how good a deal I got.

Check this out:

I know it's not an '08, but you buy this for 10K, then all you did was still get a new bike, you just let somone else pay all the shipping, setup fees, and everything else Harley wants to ad on there, and you still get the same warranty, because it's trasferrable. You can even upgrade the warranty from the previous owner if you want after you buy it. Does not make sense to me to go buy a new bike from the dealer with everything they tack on.

I almost did it afew months ago, but after looking around, you can get the same bike with under 1000 miles on it for a couple thousand less. Sounds like the way I'm gonna go when it's time to go get my SuperGlide........

Do whatever makes you happy though, it'll be your bike!

I say................no deal
I have been seeing 2007's with $1000 off MSRP at my preferred dealer. No dum, dum fees either.

If you don't mind traveling to get one, you might get a better price.

But the quoted price isn't that bad either. I could have paid less, butI only had to go 10 miles to pick mine up. My time is worth as much or more then theirs. it's all how you look at it.

Just bought a 2008 Nightster ... traded in my 2007 XL883 Low, but here's how the cost broke down.

Bike cost: 9695
Freight 300
Setup 250
Admin Fee 199
Security System395
Gap Insurance 595

TOTAL 11,434

The security system was already installed, so no choice there. The Gap insurance will cover the difference between what my insurance would pay if the bike was totalled, stolen, whatever, and the amount still owed on the bike. I was kind of pushed into this, but actually considering where I live, and it's a Harley, well, I didn't argue.

By the way ... I was all set NOT to do the deal because the monthly payments were more than I wanted to make, told them I had to go home and "work my budget:" when the credit manager came in (I had been dealing with the salesman), and asked what was the maximum I could pay montly, what would it take for the deal to be sealed TODAY (well, that was yesterday actually). What I ended up with was 3 percent less on the interest rate which saves me quite a bit over the lenght of the loan andput my payments pretty much right at the maximumIfeel I am able to pay.Sometimes it pays to "play their game". Sometimes it doesn't get you anywhere ... but keep it in mind.

Some dealers don't budge. I think the most you'll end up saving is $500 (give or take) if you wait and shop around. You'll miss out on riding that nice new bike the whole time, though If it's the exact bike you want (model, color, etc) then I'd say just go for it.

PS - imo a nightster is way cooler than a basic Dyna SG [8D]

10K OTD. The rareness of this bike is quite exaggerated.

Oh yeah, I forgot. There was $70 for title and registration at the Department of Motor Vehicles. And Massachusetts is 5% sales tax. Because there was a trade in, or however they worked the numbers, I paid somewhere around $230 sales tax. To me that always hurts the most ..

Well, on the one hand all the dealers are saying they get 'em in and they go right out the door, and on the other hand, I haven't seen one single one driving around my area yet.
