I know the feeling, when I got on the Sportster three months ago I hadn't ridden for 17 years, and had never ridden anything as heavy as the Harley.
Take your time getting used to the bike, as mentioned, don't let anyone pressure you to go outside your zone.... and watch out for the idiots... I had two try to hit me within a mile yesterday, changing lanes like I wasn't even there.....

Take your time. Stay off the roads during commute times. Assume that you are invisible. Take a training course - either the basic or the experienced rider. After 20 years not riding I found the experienced rider course useful, the instructors were very good at picking up on bad habits
