Pffft! New Sportster HANGS the Scout. No comparison whatsoever.

I'd have to say that the Sportster S is ahead of the Scout in several areas, but the Scout is a bike that was introduced in 2015, seven years ahead of the SS. What will an updating of the Scout deliver?

Keep in mind that there are a number of naked Metric bikes that could blow them both away.

Considering the 4 cylinder 950cc kawasaki z900 only makes a whole 2-3 whp more horsepower at the wheel and has 20ft lbs less torque than the 2 cylinder in the S, I'd say it performs admirably for what it is. If you want to compare it to japanese 4 cylinder supersports, english 2.3L power cruisers, decked out 90 degree, rev to the moon italian race twins and huge 1,700cc japanese V4 engines that's up to you I guess.

And the S is a rocketship compared to the Scout, with more tech and better suspension. I test rode one before I bought my S and the S is hands down the all around better bike.

The only place the Scout beats the S is pricing and the only way I would choose a Scout over the S is if I bought it and went straight to revolution performance to get the 1,300cc bore kit. Even then that would only put it on par with the S.

Harley has introduced the Sportster S to provide a new choice for an evolving generation of consumers as well as changing environmental requirements. It's a great move on HD's part. But typical of HD, they are slow to arrive at the game, see their "competition" as Indian, and ignore what the metric manufacturers have been doing for going on 2 decades. You kind of cherry picked the Z900 as an example of the competition. How about the Kawasaki Z H2 Supernaked for $18000, how's that compare?

Both of you make good comments. If H-D had put the PA engine in the S, it would have closed some of the room for disagreement. Go figure.

That's like comparing a 3.6L colorado to a Lamborghini dude. Like I said, if you want to make BS comparisons to make metrics look better that's on you. But just for ***** and giggles I will entertain your comment.... ::deep breath::

Did you really just compare a supercharged 998cc inline 4 superbike to a middleweight cruiser with a 60 degree twin dude? The very least you could have done was compare it to a Ducati 999. Which is also a twin. But if you knew anything about engines you would also know that comparing a 60 degree vtwin cruiser to a high revving 90 degree Ltwin Superbike is almost as asinine as the comparison you are making.... soooo. Lol

The simple fact it's even competing with the z900 which has double the cylinder count is a feat in itself.

You say late to the party because you're too busy comparing it to bikes it's not even supposed to be compared to. I say it's exactly where it's supposed to be because I actually use critical thinking in my comparisons.

You're not just talking to your run of the mill Harley fanboy. You're talking to someone that knows the entire market and loves all bikes. So might want to slow your roll comparing a middleweight cruiser to a superbike.

Enjoy your new bike, I'm just a run of the mill Harley fanboy that lacks knowledge of the entire market.

Because that's TOTALLY what I said. Lol.

Like I said in the very beginning. And I'll emphasize this time, if you live in a world where the sportster S and the H2 are comparable, you live in a world of delusions.
