Helmet Lock question..

Helmet Lock question..
OK...since the screws are security screws, and once I mount this thing it would be impossible to remove (short of drilling the screws), here's the question (for a stock, other than windshield and sissy bar, 2006 883 Custom).
I purchased a "Universal Helmet Lock" (this is a "genuine" Harley part) from the local dealer, it is designed to be mounted on a round bar. I had assumed (and think I read on the Harley parts site) that it would mount to the frame.. but, the only place I found a fit in terms of diameter is on the handlebar.
Is there any reason not to mount this on the left handle bar between the grip and the center post? It doesn't seem that it would be in the way of anything, and wouldn't hit the tank when the bars are turned all the way to the left.
Thanks in advance for helping me not screw this up.

******, interesting idea, I like that...... any thought as to if drilling holes in the sissy bar weakened it? I would hate for the wife to lean back on it and have the darn thing break off!
