Default Sportster Café Custom Tail Section on Pre-2010 Sportster

Hello! This is halfway an introduction post too, since it's my first post, but I'll introduce myself properly in another thread. For now, I just have a question that I haven't really been able to find any answers for elsewhere.
So, Harley offers this Café Custom tail section that I really like. I've been considering getting a 2007 Sportster 1200 Low (XL1200L), but that tail section is specified to only fit 2010 and later Sportster models! Now, I work at a dealership thankfully and have the ability to do unobtrusive measurements. It seems that the spacing on the bolts of the fender support remain consistent, but I have a feeling the issue may lie in the steel inner support, it may need sections cut out of it or not have bolt holes in the proper placement to fit those earlier models.
My question therefore is: Does anybody have experience with this? Is Harley full of horse-apples? (Of course they are. But on this?) Should I just find an aftermarket one and not spend all the money on that? What's the consensus? Thanks!

Didn't know it would force download on that attached .pdf. Here's what I sent in .png, just the tail section in the Harley P&A catalog!

I'm guessing that HD says it wont fit because it wont be a 'direct bolt on' since
the ECM is located on the rear fender. If your ECM looks like this one below,
you'll have to relocate it somewhere else for the cafe-style to fit.

Ahh, yep! That's the issue it seems. It seems post 2010 it was moved in front of the battery, I found another thread here of someone that made a sort of a zip tie jerry-rig to move it on top of the battery. Might be able to do something a bit less... Zip tie-ey to relocate it and make it work. Thanks so much!

If you got one of the lithium batteries they are a lot smaller. and you would probably have enough room to put it inside the batterie box.

I thought about getting one anyway! I've heard some bad stories about them, but I have a feeling those stories are from people that didn't know how to care for a Lithium battery. It also looks like there might be a void space in front of the battery box to put the plastic case that holds the ECM from post 2010 Sportsters.
