First, let me say that I have a 2005 XL1200R with a Security System with a siren.
Sunday night I was riding along at about 50 mph when my security alarm went off and the ignition shut down for no apparent reason. I immediately headed for the shoulder of the road. Once there, I removed the key and went for a cigarette and I was out! Well, I put the key back in, cycled the switch on-and-off 5 times, pulled the key, walked away from the bike, and waited 5 minutes. I went back to the bike after 5 minutes and put the key back in and still nothing.
I tried this "cycling" of the ignition switch about 4 times total, all with no result. Then, I cycled it on-and-off again 10 times, pulled the key, walked away from the bike, and waited 15 minutes. When I tried it after the 15-minute wait the lights came on and it started right up. I let it idle a couple of minutes then continued my journey back home with no further incident.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? Anyone have an idea what would trigger this?
Thanks in advance...
