It's a power cruiser, so yea, it's a mini-FXDR or V-Rod redux. The FXDR is selling poorly enough that there were rumors it would be discontinued and the V-Rod was discontinued due to poor sales, so I'm not quite sure why H-D did another power cruiser at a time that they are hurting and need a few more big wins. On the other hand, I hear the V-Rod was quite popular in Europe where H-D needs to sell bikes and currently has nothing in the line up smaller than the Softails.
This bike certainly isn't my cup of tea, but the rider that wants one of these wouldn't have either of my bikes.
I've seen a lot of folks complaining that it has forward controls instead of mids. That's one of the things that differentiates a power cruiser from a street naked like the Bronx. I seem to be the guy that thinks we're still going to see the Bronx again.

First thing that screams ugly at me is the mufflers. Then I look at the rear view, then the head on view... and feel lucky my newest sportster is an '04. I suspect it won't be long before some of these show up with low (and loud) pipes, bobbed rear fenders (or just taken off), that tiny front fender left in a garage corner, and tanks perched 2 to 4 inches higher. Oh yeah, must not forget apes. With decent care all my Harleys (with none of the above mods) should outlast me, so I'm not at all worried I might end up on something like this someday. Speed isn't everything.
