Default whining noise

I have a 2007 Sportster 1200 Low Rider.Around the 500 mile mark I started hearing awhining noise after I've breaked once or twice.I don't hear the noise when I accelerate. It sounds like it may be coming from the rear brakes, but I'm not sure. Took it to the dealer for the 1,000 mile tune up and was given the run around and also was told that HD brakes aen't any good. Is it the brakes or could it be coming from the engine since I don't hear the noise when I'm accelerating?? Any suggestions???

most likely the rear brake. try a slight amount of brake and see if it stops.

Could be the drive belt rubbing on the side of the pully.Mine makes noise when I decelerate.

I get it too bro. Back brake makes all kinds of noise when coming to a stop. Not to mention the rotor could melt the skin off your fingers if touched. I take it as an HD thing. Just laugh it off, works for me.

I just noticed this noise, and felt my rotor after a 10 mile ride while parked. yeah, big mistake. I got to this thread searching for problems with the brakes, but apperantly its normal.
