Hello, new to the forum as well as Harleys. Sorry for being ignorant, hoping someone can answer my question. I have an 02 Sportster that had the ignition switch removed, as well as the wiring for it. The coil is not hooked up. I found the 6 pin connector (circled in photo), and the wiring that goes to the ignition switch (red, red black, red grey). I sent power to the Red and Black wire, and the top right pin of the 6 pin connector read hot all the time. I hooked that to the coil, and started trying to ground it out with the other pins. I believe I may have smoked something, after doing that now the Top right pin is only hot when cranking, before it was hot all the time. Or is this just because of the pickup location? Again, sorry for the complete ignorance. I do appreciate any and all help. Would like some info on where to find the connector that connects to the 6 pin as well, I'm assuming it goes to the coil?

Edit: Another question, my coil has 3 studs for wires (not plug wires obviously). Would it be - + - or + - + . I assume - + -

I would look to restore all the wiring back to the way the MoCo thought best.
