I have a 2001 sportster 1200, and the ignition module went bad , I have a compufire replacement for it , but the original one had black,white, green, purple, and pink, the new compufire has black,white, green, and red, so that leaves my old wire clip with an extra purple,and pink, and my new compufire with a red , a "susposta be Mechanix said he guaranteed this compufire would work and to eliminate the pink wire that is for if u have a tach, so.....I've tried every combination of wiring and still no spark , today a friend of mine who replaced his , said eliminate the plug and wire the compufire to where the wires run to ... any ideas of how to help would be greatly appreciated

 

I replaced my ignition module with a Dyna 2000i, so this may not help, but with mine the pink wire coming out of the ignition module goes to the left side of the coil. The white wire from the ignition module goes to the right side of the coil. The green wire (from IM) goes to the tach (which I don't have). The violet (from IM) goes to the VOES. The blue wire is not used. There is also another white wire from the wiring harness going to the right side of the coil (I believe it's from the VOES). This can
get confusing because the harness from the IM doesn't always match the wire colors of the original. I'm attaching a scan or the diagram I used. I used the top left wiring diagram.
