Seat screw fell off

Seat screw fell off
I was about 60 miles from home today (had just ridden about 140 miles) and was stopped taking a break when i noticed my seat screw looked loose. I went to tighten it, and it was just hanging there. The nut type thing that goes under the fender is is held on by that little clip was gone. Luckily the seat is small enough that me sitting on it was enough to keep it in place so i could ride it home.
I stopped by the harley dealer to buy another nut but they didn't have any.
Any suggestions where I can get one? Anyone make anything that works better?

RE: Seat screw fell off
i don't think home depot would have anything that could be held in the hole with the clip.. sure they would have a regular nut, but that would be a pain the butt to get in and tighten. I can barely get my hand in there, much less a wrench.
I think i heard of a seat quick release kit or something once.. can't find anything about it now though.

You can't get the seat nut at Home Depot or any hardware store, and it shouldn't be a special order item from your dealer either. I had one break about a month ago while my GF & I were heading to Bike night. She had said she felt like she was sliding around on the way there. I went to put our helmets on the bike and noticed the mounting nut/boltat the back of the solo & in front of the passenger pillion broke. Luckily, I had added the sissy bar and the rear mounting nut/bolt was strong enough to limp us home.
I called the next day to my HD shop and an Indy, with both shops havingthem in stock for like $3. After buying one at the Indy, I was looking through my extra parts box and found an extra nut/clip to throw in my fork bag. To get these nuts up into position, you need to fish a wire, (in my case, I used a few zip ties put together end to end)with the nut only portion up through the hole, and then clip the black C-clip onto the nut once it is positioned in the fender properly.
Keep checking around, if you still can't find one, I could possibly find one to mail to you. It shouldn't be that hard to find one.
