I lost the nut, not the bolt. The bolt could be replaced at any harware store, the nut can't. It fits through the fender from underneath, and attaches to a clip above the fender, the clip holds it in place so you can tighten the screw.

...and every dealer does not have them in stock. I went to the dealer yesterday, and they have to order it.

WVhogrider -- Thanks for offering to send me one, but I'm sure i'll be able to track one down. The zip tie trick is a great suggestion. To put it on there I layed on the floor of the garage and squeezed my hand up there between the fender and tire.

Sportypig -- you got me on that one. Loctite it is from now on.

Has anyone used the HD quick seat relocation hardware kit? Is it just a decorative **** that replaces the screw?

Yes, it works great, looks great and is very easy to use. Dont lose the metal plate that sticks on the the middle, it makes the whole piece look better.

Shame on that Harley dealer for not having that in stock. If only the MoCo knew.

That's what I was thinking. It is the most basic of all harley parts... and I'm pretty sure that it's not even model specific.
Oh well. Could have been worse. If i had a big two up seat on the bike I might not have been able to ride it home.

I put a rubber washer under my seat screw to hold it in place.

Most Harley Dealers should have these. It's fairly common for a newbie to replace the seat, and not realize you need to use locktite Blue on that screw.

Does this sound like the voice of experience??? hummmmm....could be.

Thanks for the advice. I just order a seat for my 1200c.

Found this post through a search and thought I would give it a go before creating another thread.

I'm not familiar with bolt and thread sizes and wanted to swap out the seat bolt for a different style.&nbsp\\; Does anybody know the size and thread count for that nut?
