Most important is its a freakin' HARLEY DAVIDSON!
unless you have changed the gearing it is not on par with a v rod.
Sporty gearing for the 1200 range from 115 to 123 top end v rod top end 143.
there is aldo a differance between quick and fast. Can a hammer 127t kit impove the sporty oh hell yes but there are just as many mod for the v rod and a destoryer v rod will kill most anything including the almighty v max and the busa and the h2

Personally I'd rather have the 1200C but to a degree its really splitting hairs & how much you wanna spend IMO. Regardless your lucky to own such treasures & I'm happy for you 210. Nothing on two OR four wheels beats cruisin' around on a Harley freakin' Davidson....NOTHING!

IDK...but I do know it quickly reaches a point where you end up wasting alotta $$ w/out alot to gain from it. Looks like the V-Rod outweighs the 1200 by at least 60lbs if not more and in some situations thats alot but again its all in what makes the buyer/owner happy and I LOVE my 883 & of all the HD line the Sportster is the most simple. All you need on a Sporty is a speedo and many remove that.

That looked impressive but looked more like the gixxer guy didn't have experience and was slower off the line. The bike wheelies immediately which will have cost considerable time.

Its interesting IMO how the Sporster was more popular when it weighed 480lbs wet than now when it weighs in at a hefty 560lbs. I wonder how much of that wgt gain are honest advancements & how much are government regs conformity which is a direct contradiction to what the essence of the Sporster is? Its funny to me how street cops scrutinized Harleys MUCH, MUCH more in the 1960's/70's than they do now. I've seen sky-high apes freely cruising around today that in 1977 would be impounded on the spot. Then again I saw idiots doing 75mph in a 45 zone in Miami going past cops who never blinked an eye that in 1982 would have 3 patrol cars chasing them down like they killed 10 people.

Doesn't sound like alotta fun to me. For me personally 250 miles on a Sportster is about as far as I'd wanna put my butt through & even then I'd need 10 minutes just to pry myself off of it.
I've kept my Custom when I bought my King and have ridden the Sporty from NC to FL a couple of times with riding buddies that also have Sporties. We've even gone to the 4-corners on a week-long trip with our Sporties. The rides were fairly comfy with the right seat and windshield. Only thing I miss when riding long haul is the cruise control, like on my King. I've configured my Custom so I ride more upright. I have mid-controls and have hwy pegs in the forward position to stretch out, so the long rides are fairly comfortable for me.

^ Impressive to say the least. To be clear I was referring to today's basically limitless avg interstate speeds, not the two-lane country road 70mph (max) cruise. Even then from NC to FL (south of Tampa) is damn long ride IMO.

The vrod was just butt ugly...doesn’t matter about HP when you look and sound like it did. It was doomed for cancellation from the start. And now with the patents on the motor expired, the motor is gone from the lineup too. The Sportster continues on...and contrary to internet hype and myth, I don’t believe its going to be out of the lineup. It may get a new engine but the Sporty will live on!
