Default Frame/Fork Locking Point Delete

Do the newer Sportsters still come with the frame/fork locking point, where you can put a pad-lock or other lock to keep the bike from being stolen? I ask b/c I've never used it and as I'm doing my build-up of this old sportster, was thinking of doing a delete of it to clean things up.

My 1991 will take a padlock, but I think the newer bikes might use a keylock into the steering stem like the Jap bikes. I could be wrong. Not even sure when they changed over from the padlock holes.

I hope you don't really think a padlock will stop theft of your bike. Nor does an ignition lock.

Stop it, no. But back in 1971 I was riding a Kawasaki H1.

While parked at UNLV, in addition to the fork lock I would put a dog's choke chain collar through the rear wheel with a tiny padlock for security.
Where it was parked there wasn't much chance of it being lifted into the back of a pickup truck. That worked for several weeks.

Then one day I was late for class and didn't use my 'security chain'. After class I discovered my scooter was gone. The frame was found several years later.

I have always suspected that someone got the key code, it was stamped in plain sight, and bought a key at a Kawasaki shop. Then they checked until the first time I didn't use my 'security chain' and rode my scooter away.

Since then I have always used some protection, In past years it was a heavy chain, Now it is a cable, along with built in security.

All thieves can't be stopped but I think they can be encouraged to look somewhere else that isn't quite so quick and easy.

Yeah, I haven't and don't ever plan on using it. In fact it almost took my finger off when working on the front end, hence the delete.
I don't want this to become a "how to keep my bike from getting stolen" thread, that is not a concern of mine.
Was just wondering everyone else thinks it's a useless feature, as I do.

I agree. If you are not concerned about theft, a lock/locking place is useless.

Some people feel 'bling' is useless.
