Default Nightster Oil Leaks?

I noticed a small oil leak under my new Nightster. Is this common to sportsters, or should I take it back in? This never happened with my big twin hogs. Anyone else get these leaks?

where under the bike did you find the leak? are you sure it's oil? it could be fuel venting from the fuel vent hose. If you just filled up the tank and left the bike sitting outside in the heat, the gas will expand to a point where it will vent out the fuel vent line. It may look like oil as it picks up some grease from the underside of the bike on the way out. If it smells like fuel, then the fuel vent line is doing it's job properly.Just a thought before you start to panic.

I think the only times my '96 has leaked was when there was a problem... seeping gasket, loose clamp etc. it's new.... it's under warranty.... if you discover that it's not gasoline like Rob said.... take it back to the stealer and have it fixed under warranty...

I had a leak on my 1200n.

right under the brake pedal there is a oil hose, the hose was tight but the fitting going into the case was loose. You have to loosen the hose to tighten the fitting.

uuhhh.. the nightster is fuel injected i highly doubt its fuel dripping from a vent, i noticed the same thing soon after i did my first oil change. you might have crused the O ring on your drain plug and its dripping from there, IDK??

It appears that it may have been overfilled, and it came out of the overflow tube on the bottom, collecting at a certain point above the drain plug. It definitely had full oil still. I'll watch it and see.
