If you compare it to what is standard on the XL1200T I think they are essentially the same it terms of the seating area.

This is an (old) actual picture of the Reach seat on an Iron. Granted, its not
at a good angle. I do not have a side-by-side pic of the "standard" Iron seat
and this Reach seat as both seats are in "off site" storage....
I will say the current mustang cyclone solo seat is quite close to the frame if that might be an option..
It sits on a fiberglass mounting plate. I've ridden a whole tank (3 gallons) on it before stopping, but
I will admit, its not a long haul (10 hour days) type seat. Here's a pic;
