I have to change the fluids of a friend's Sportster 883 custom of the year 2004. Can anyone tell me the quantity of fluid that model has?

My softail uses 3 oils (motor, primary and transmission), but I think that sportsters uses 2 (one for motor and primary and one for transmission), is this right?

Yep, only 2 oils. The engine takes 3 quarts MAX including 4-5 oz. you put in the filter before installing it. The primary/tranny takes exactly 1 quart. Only fill the engine oil up to about 1/3 over the add mark on the dipstick. If your fill the oil tank to FULL it will puke oil out of the rocker cover lines back into the air filter.

 

You can use 1 oil.
