I have a 2009 XL1200C, replaced shocks with 13" Road King parts. Run about 10psi and am very happy with them. All up weight is about 235lb. Hope this helps. Burt

I was looking at these but not sure if these will be a softer ride then OEM's. Not looking to go air ride. https://www.progressivesuspension.co...-series-shocks

Well, before I went with the RK shocks I tried a set of Progressive 411's with HD spring and could not keep it from bottoming or being uncomfortable, Problems went away with the RK units. Plus RK shocks were cheap on e-bay. The 412's seem like a good choice if you do not want air. Good luck with whatever you choose. Burt

Default Progressive shocks

I ride a 2013 XL1200C. I wanted to improve the ride. Added Progressive front fork springs, and Progressive, standard 444 12.5” rear shocks. I weigh less than 200 lbs, never ride two up, very little in saddlebags. The ride from the rear shocks is brutal. I have the preload as far down as the collars will go. It’s ok on smooth roads but any cracks, rough spots or dips very tough. So I added a. Mustang seat, huge improvement. Rear shocks are still a problem. I may go back to the original Harley shocks. I’m very disappointed considering the cost. Everything I’ve heard about them has been positive. Could be a bad set.

Yeah, the standard springs fitted to a lot of the different models of Progressive shocks are too stiff. If you get the heavy-duty springs, they are even worse. Of course, the shorter the shock, the stiffer the spring is to lessen bottoming.
