04 sportster 1200R what is the best all around seat for long rides

The Mustang WITH BACKREST is probably awesome, as I got the one without backrest, and while it was comfortable at a stop, I kept feeling like I was going to slide off of it under acceleration.
My Saddlemen Explorer allows me to ride a good 2 hours before I feel a need to stretch, and provides good lower back/upper butt support. My only gripes with it are that it soaks up water easily and is maddening to drain it back out (one surprise rain storm, and it took MONTHS to finally seep all the water out), and it looks a little silly when I only ride solo. Probably VERY comfy for a passenger, though.

There are also other factors in "best" seat. Your age, weight, height, inseam, and other personal variables. I'm 71 and in reasonably good health, not overweight and I maintain good posture. This means I don't need back support. However, my short inseam and sciatica will not allow forward controls. Even if my feet could reach the controls comfortable, I would be in a slumping position which kills my L4 - L5 disc which is herniated. Padding is not a problem but seat width would be if it's too wide or too narrow.
If you go to a store to buy a lounge chair or a bed, you have to try it out. The same is true of a seat. The worst seat I ever sat on is the one on a 2020 Iron 1200 which felt like it was 1/2" think when compressed. Combine that with the short rear shocks and I literally had the wind knocked out of me on almost every bump or dip in the road. So, literally, one size does not fit all.
Quality is something else to consider. My bike came with two stock seats, one two-up, single and one solo. Both were very comfortable. Both cracked all the way across the plastic base when the bike had less than 10K miles on it. Mustang makes a fiberglass base that is unbreakable and the vinyl is marine grade for all their seats. Do they have the most comfortable one for you? Only you can tell.
Good luck in your search.
