Default 1998 sportster dieseling

Hi all, My friend at work wanted me to post this for him, He has a 98 sporty with 50000 miles on it. He said that every once in a while the bike will diesel when he shuts it off, like keep running for a couple seconds. Has anyone had this problem? He tried new plugs but it still did it, also this bike has high mileage but does not smoke , and only uses a half quart of oil every 4000 miles. So i think the top end is good, any suggestions what the problem is? thanks for help

2 thing that would come to my head would be timing too far advanced, or carbon build up in the cylinder heads.
