Bolt size lookup

I guess I should have said a mishmash of correct fasteners and junk drawer fasteners...that is what I was getting at.

Unless you specifically knew a metric fastener has been used there will be a strong possibility of rounding out a hex head screw before realising the mishmash.
From the picture there should be no reason any of those fasteners ever need replacing and in the slim chance they do over the life of the bike you might just as well order the correct part from your HD dealer if not available from a hardware supplier in your country. IMHO of course.

Hi,
I am living in a "metric" country and it is a bit difficult to get bolts in inch. It would be great to know the size of certain bolts to facilitate getting them, is there an index on bolt (or thread) sizes in the maintenance manual. for example:
if I want to know the thread size of bolt "6" in this picture - is there a reference list somewhere?
Tom

ETA: A quick Google search reveals the thread specs, but no mention of length or grade.

The reason I needed the size is that I am relocating the turning lights and needed a short bolt. I found a suitable 5/16" bolt and all good. Surley the aim is to get the right bolts in the correct quality, but sadly over here in Peru it is not always possible, there might be a source but you need to drive hours which for one bolt at the time is impossible. My plan is to build it up as I can, once finished go out and try to get all the bolts in one go.
Thanks to all for the great feedback!
