Has anyone ever put the 1200 gears in the primary on a 883 with stage 1 (2005 883 low) to lower the rpm at highway speeds and if so how was it?

 

i think the 883 is happy at higher rpms. dont think its worth the cost. my basic open exhaust,air cleaner and jetting it would not pull past 90 mph in 5th but would pull to 100 in 4th gear change to 5th at 100 caused a loss of speed

 

How about changing the tranny pulley to one tooth larger? I happen to have a spare 29 tooth one on hand.

 

Thanks but I did that to my other sportster that I converted to a trike and the speedo is now 5 miles per hour out which drives me nuts.

 

get a power vision tuner and correct it.the tuner also has multi setup gauges u can moniter like engine temp,how many miles you have gone,what kind of mileage your getting per mile,how lean or rich you are running ect ect.well worth the price tag.

 

It was great! Bike was way under powered for the taller gearing. And I continued to lug the engine every time I cruised at highway speeds. But, i feel so much better because I believe it was revving too high!

 

Its a 2005 with carb so no tuner needed

i have used this a few times in past with great results very easy very small easily hidden
looks like an A1 model is the correct one just plugs inline from speed sensor no cutting or hacking
