RE: Boots/Shoe question
Aside from protecting your feet and ankles, the most important thing about riding boots is traction. If you don't have good traction you increase the odds, greatly,of dropping your bike.
I've had many different styles of boots over the years. Currently I have a pair of Ariat boots and they're among the most comfortable I've ever worn. I've put 14,000 miles on them in the past year and I can't tell the difference in the sole of the left boot from the right boot.

RE: Boots/Shoe question
I wear HD boots, best I've found yet as far as fit. As long as they are over the ankle you should be fine. Just need to make sure that they are slip resistant and oil proof soles. And for those that hate to break in a new pair of boots, ( Not to hijack the thread ) I use Neetsfoot oil. pretty muck soak the leather in it. makes them soft as a sock. However, you will have stains on your socks the color of your boots for a while. LOL.
