Default Boots/Shoe question

I currently have a pair of Doc Martins, will they suffice for riding boots? I heard the soles may be a problem.
Is there something I should be looking for when picking out boots/shoes aside from style?

I'd say as long as they are an over-the-ankle style you'll be good.
I have this style and never had any problems with the soles slipping or anything in the last 2 years.

Aside from protecting your feet and ankles, the most important thing about riding boots is traction. If you don't have good traction you increase the odds, greatly,of dropping your bike.

I've had many different styles of boots over the years. Currently I have a pair of Ariat boots and they're among the most comfortable I've ever worn. I've put 14,000 miles on them in the past year and I can't tell the difference in the sole of the left boot from the right boot.

I'm not much into safety anything... but a good griping boot is a good idea...

Wife got me a pair of Harley engineer boots for Xmas. Best boots ever. Riding in sneakers gives me a bum toe that I seem to favor, and stresses my ankles. I feel MUCH better in the boots.

I wear HD boots, best I've found yet as far as fit. As long as they are over the ankle you should be fine. Just need to make sure that they are slip resistant and oil proof soles. And for those that hate to break in a new pair of boots, ( Not to hijack the thread ) I use Neetsfoot oil. pretty muck soak the leather in it. makes them soft as a sock. However, you will have stains on your socks the color of your boots for a while. LOL.

I have yet to find a decent boot in size 15. I might have to go with RedWings

Just make sure that they have rubber or non slip soles. I wouldn't want to have a smooth leather sole on a riding boot. Hate to put your foot down and then find you and your bike laying on the ground[:@]. I have some HD boots that are made by Wolverine.
